Sad News Update

My sister's nephew nearly drowned yesterday. He is 14, and in very critical condition. He is a good boy. I am babysitting for my niece and nephew while my sister and brother in law are at the hospital with his family. If you are a praying person, please pray for his recovery.

*Update-Jay's organs shut down, and his parents made the difficult decision to remove him from life support. His whole family (aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins) got to say goodbye to him. It makes me so sad that this all happened in a little over a day's time. I can't imagine the anguish his parents are experiencing.

RUSSIA — A 14-year-old Shelby County boy has died following an accident Sunday afternoon in a pond on his family's property off Range Line Road.

Jay Luthman was swimming in the pond with his 16-year-old brother, Nathan Luthman, when for undetermined reason Jay went under water but did not come up, Sheriff Kevin O'Leary said

Nathan went to the house, which is several hundred feet from the pond, to call for help. Then, with the help of their mother, he tried to find his brother.

Russia Fire Department members located the boy, administered CPR and took him to Miami Valley Hospital.

A hospital administrator said Luthman died Monday afternoon.

O'Leary said the incident remains under investigation.

How awful for that family; I'm sure the brother is taking it especially hard.
The loss of a child is devastating. To think that God felt that anguish so that we all could live with Him forever.
I pray for them and ask God to wrap His loving arms around them.

Thanks for the update, but so sorry that it wasn't better news. I'll continue to pray for the families for healing and peace as they go through this unforseen journey.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. I can't imagine how awful for that family. Neither of my kids swim, and this is one of my biggest worries.
