So, Drew got up at 5 this morning. I told him he had to go back to sleep. Rarely does that occur, but I thought it was worth a try. I muttered a selfish prayer, Lord, let him go back to sleep. One hour, that's all I ask. Now I know that it pleases the Lord to bless his children, but I admit I felt guilty for asking it. I laid in bed thinking, You could get up and read your bible. How long has it been since you spent time in the Word? I tried to shut the question out of my mind, promising God that I'd read the bible when I got up, in an hour. Of course, I couldn't fall back asleep. Drew got up again, and said, "I get up? Please?" So, I rolled out of bed, and got his breakfast. I turned the computer on so I wouldn't have to search the dark for my bible. I went to biblegateway.com and started with the verse of the day. It was Luke 1:30-33 when the angel of God appeared to Mary to tell her that she would be giving birth to the Messiah. I read on and read about how she and Joseph went to Bethlehem for the census. I thought about how this fulfilled a prophecy about the Jews' messiah. Which led me to Google the prophecies of Jesus. Did you know the Old Testament has over 300 prophesies about the messiah, and Christ fulfilled every one of them? Wow. Link
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
