An interesting parallel

Sometimes in the morning when Blake wakes me up, I don't put my glasses on right away.  I can help him get his breakfast without them. 

This really bothers him.  He'll say, "Glasses, Mom!  You forgot your glasses!  You can't see me!"  This morning, he ran and got them for me.  He said, "That's better.  You can see me now!"  He's not worried I can't see to fix his breakfast, or that I'll run into something without them, but he is worried that I can't see him. He is always relieved once I put them on.

Now I have encountered this situation numerous times, but it hit me this morning that sometimes we are like this with God.  When things are going wrong in our lives, we wonder, "God, can't you see me?"  Where are you?" We feel safe and calm when we know He is able to see us.

In the book of Genesis, when Hagar is cast out by Sarah, she is upset and doesn't know what to do.  She is pregnant and afraid.  The Lord comes to her and tells her to return to Abraham and Sarah and tells her of her son's future.  She obeyed because she said she had seen "the God who sees her".  It brought her comfort and assurance to know that the God of the universe had his eyes upon her. 

He is known as El Roi--the God who sees.

The psalmist put it this way: 
"From heaven the Lord looks down
    and sees all mankind;
 from his dwelling place he watches
    all who live on earth—
 he who forms the hearts of all,
    who considers everything they do."

Some people believe that God is not part of the everyday details of our lives.  The bible tells us otherwise.  Jesus said, "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"  and "Aren't two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father's consent."

My point is this.  The Lord of all cares for you.   He is watching over your life.  You may feel uncertain or in despair, but God is there through it all.  Do you know him as your Savior?  He loves you so much!  John 3:16 says, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." 


God sees all the good and evil things you have done in your life.  He knows your deepest, darkest secrets--the things you wouldn't dare tell even your best friend.  He loves you despite them.  He provided a Savior to pay for your sins (wrongdoings)  so that you may have eternal life with Him.  Accept that gift!  Ask him into your heart and your life.  And feel the presence of the God who sees.  


Blake is happier when he knows his earthly mama can see him.  When you know the God of the universe and put your trust in him, you will have peace.  Paul said, "May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it."
