We have two cordless phones in our house. Both of which are on the verge of collapse. The oldest was Eric's from before we were married. The battery dies on it, and will disconnect you in the middle of a conversation. Replacing the battery doesn't even help. For some reason, it won't stay charged. Not to mention the fact that you can't prop it up on your shoulder, or it will click like crazy, changing channels. And our newer phone is not much better. You can talk for a couple minutes, and it will turn to static, no matter how near or far you are from the receiver. We need to get a new one. In the meantime, Mom and Dad let us use one of their old corded phones. It is the kind the phone company used to issue. Anyway, when it rang, Drew said, "What was that?!" since it has a shrill ring, not like the rings of more modern phones. It has become a source of much interest. They keep trying to pick it up and dial numbers. Hopefully they don't dial 911 like Drew did from my inlaws house a few months ago. Here's what it looks like:

What kind of phone is this?

I used to play with an old phone like that when I was a little girl.
For a while Punkin would run away every time his teacher played a song that had a telephone ringing. He refused to go back to the carpet until she turned it off. I only have a cell phone, which plays a light musical ring, so he had never heard a real phone ring before.
