Yesterday was snowy. Drew's school got cancelled. Before Eric went to work, I cleaned the snow off his car and started 'er up for him.
The driveway really needed shoveled, so I did it. Drew watched from the front window in his underwear. Blake didn't care too much, especially since Handy Manny was on. Drew opened the door and called out to me, "Can I come out? I want to sit in the snow!" Remember that he was in his underwear? lol. I hurried through the driveway, and when I was almost finished our neighbor Norm came and helped with his snow thrower.
So, I came back in the house, and Drew asked me over and over all morning if we could go outside to play in the snow. I told him he didn't have any boots, to which he replied, "Um, how 'bout....shoes?" (Now that's using your noggin!) Eric had the afternoon off, so I told Drew we'd wait until Daddy got home. He sat by the front window waiting for him.
After some deliberations, and a couple phone calls to area stores looking for boots, I decided that we would "bread bag" him. You know what I mean, right? Bags held up with rubber bands over the shoes? We had gotten the boys snowpants for Christmas, but I figured it made more sense to get them out yesterday. As it turned out, we found some old boots of mine that he wore. They were too big, but not terribly so.
Eric came home to learn that he would be playing in the snow as soon as humanly possible. He ran to Dollar General to get a sled and camera batteries. After all, this was the first time the boys ever played in the snow. Yes, I am serious. Drew has always had sensory issues, and never wanted to be outside or touch anything cold. So, this was the first year he ever had any interest. Poor Blakie got the shaft all these years. He probably would have loved it.
Ok, so now for the pictures:
They are all ready, but waiting for Eric to get home from DG. Doesn't Blake look like he's about to fall asleep?
Look! Snow!
Blake would NOT keep his gloves on. He kept ripping them off!
Eric and Drew getting ready to make snow angels
There they go
Trying to warm Blake's hands
It was at this point that I said, "Say goodbye to Daddy since you won't keep your gloves on"
Blake and I went in the house after about a half hour of playing. Eric and Drew got started on a snowman.
Woo-hoo!
Drew instructed Eric to hold the snowman's arm. lol!
Anyway, Drew did not want to come in, but Eric made him after an hour and a half. As soon as he came in, he said, "I play in the snow tomorrow?"

How fun :)
That Was a great Snowman!!! It looks like Eric got a Snow outfit too!
Yeah, Eric got that a few years ago for Christmas.
Brrrrrr! My kids have never seen snow other than a flurry. I can't begin to imagine what they would think of it. It 77 degrees here today - warm even for Alabama.
Looks like fun though - and LOL about the bread bag - will have to remember that if we ever do get snow again.
How cute. I was smiling the whole time I read about your experience. I love that Drew wanted to go out and try something new. Yeah, I remember the bread baggin it times. How about wearing socks on your hands when you couldn't find your gloves. Boy,to be a kid again.
