We went to Minster Oktoberfest on Friday night. I didn't bring my camera with me, though I should have. We got there when they weren't too busy, so the boys didn't have much difficulty transitioning. We stopped at a food tent and got them some hot dogs. I had a soft pretzel and Eric got a bratwurst. We got a picnic table right next to the gazebo dance floor. There was a German band playing polka music and the boys danced and danced. We were there from about 6:30 until 10:00pm. Blake got tired, so we left, but Drew would have kept on going.
Saturday afternoon, there was a children's fun festival at the fairgrounds. We took the boys to that. Blake and I went on a hayride. Drew was too scared to climb onto the bale to get in the wagon, so they waited for us. It was quite chilly out.
They had little games and activities for the kids to do. We only stayed about an hour since it was so cold and windy. They had a soybean-filled sensory box, which Drew especially liked.
After the festival, we went to Eric's parents' house. They were surprised to see us, as we don't usually just drop in with the whole family on a Saturday afternoon. We went to Olive Garden for dinner. It was a little early, but that worked out okay, since we only ended up having a ten minute wait for a table. We went back to their house afterward and visited awhile.
Sunday, we went to the Oktoberfest parade. Blake insisted on carrying his own chair:
Drew really liked the bands and waved his arms like he was directing them every time they passed by.
Eric kept his eye on Drew while I watched Blake for the most part.
After the parade, we walked up to the picnic. That is Danielle, my niece and my cousin's daughter holding hands with Blake.
And there was more dancing and polka music. Not to mention more hot dogs, bratwurst, and pretzels.
Drew was very unhappy with us for making him go home. Such mean parents we are!
