We helped a little with alternate assessments this year. Alternate assessments are used to evaluate the performance of students who are unable to participate in general state assessments even with accommodations. So, Drew's teacher wanted us to use a placemat with outlines of the correct place setting items, and have Drew do it. She sent home some placemats she printed off the internet, but they were a little small for everything. So, we made some new ones from construction paper.
He did a great job with it, and actually it has become the kids' job to set the table now. We made placemats for each of us with our names on them. They put them in the right spots and go from there. I usually get the correct number of plates and silverware out, but eventually I will have them do it all on their own. They work together to get it done and they do it quite well, actually.
