Trick or Treat

Our trick or treat night was last Thursday.  It was only 45 degrees out and not nice.  It was rainy all day until right before trick or treat time.  That was a blessing.

Drew wanted to be Mister Rogers.  We got the whole getup for him.  Dress shirt, tie, dress pants, red zipper sweater, and navy canvas shoes.  We got the sweater a couple weeks early and he LOVED it.  He wears it everyday while watching Mister Rogers on the computer.  When it came time to get dressed for trick or treat, he wouldn't wear the shoes.  Which was sort of a bummer because that made the outfit.  We didn't force it, though.

Blake wanted to be Buzz Lightyear.  Drew had been Buzz a few years ago, so I got that costume out and hung it up in his room a couple weeks ago to get him used to seeing it and not afraid to put it on.  We practiced wearing it a couple times leading up to T or T night.

We got the boys ready and what do you know?  A stupid firetruck parked right in front of our house with the lights flashing.  They were giving out candy, which is nice, but when Drew saw it, he freaked out!  He started saying, "No candy!"  Eric had to pick him up and carry him out the front door.  He refused to go to any of our neighbor's houses and kept repeating his mantra, "No candy!  I want Grandma's house,"  We walked to his aide's house, which is just down a few houses from where we live.  He wouldn't go up to the door.  We walked down the next street and over to Blake's aide's house, which is also pretty close to where we live.  It was getting really cold, so Eric ran home and got the van.  We got in and both kids wanted to go to Grandma's house.  So, that was the end of trick or treating this year.  We decided that this is the last year for Drew.  We won't subject him to it again.  It's just not that important.

Here are some pics from the event:

This was at the beginning, when he was saying, "No candy!"

Blake was hiding on the porch of another neighbor's house.

Drew on the corner talking to himself about how he just wants to go to Grandma's house.

Blake with his aide, Mrs. Theis.  I love this pic!

We made it to Grandma's house!

Me with my flower child niece, Danielle. (also a fraggle)
