Happy Birthday Blake!

My Blake turned nine yesterday.  I asked him how old he was and he said, "I dunno.  Seven?"  lol.  I informed him that he is now NINE.  I guess he missed eight altogether.

He had a fun day at school and they had a little birthday party in the afternoon where he got to pass out treats.  Eric had the afternoon off yesterday so we were both home when the boys got home from school.  I made a dessert (Strawberry Pretzel Salad) and his birthday cake.  We did homework and got the kids all showered and ready for Blake's party.

We talked about taking them to McDonald's in Piqua so they could play in the Playland, but Blake didn't want to do that.  I ran to Minster and got some food from McDonald's there and brought it home.

Grandma and Grandpa Meyer called to wish him a Happy Birthday since they were still on vacation.  We let him open his presents from us before the party started. He got a puzzle, which he liked and a label maker.  Weird gift for a nine year old, but he loves his label maker at school and was extremely happy with it.

First to the party was Uncle Mark.  Blake was excited to open his card.  He had to do it like Daddy does with the mail, by using a butter knife to slice it open.  He received two Curious George DVDs from Mark.

Next came Aunt Kelly and Uncle Tony and their kids.  On Monday night, Blake went with Kelly to Topsy Turvy Toys and picked out his own gift.  It was a farm train by Melissa and Doug, a grabber (sort of like "The Claw!" Grandpa V does) and a magnifying glass.  Aunt Kelly took the present home with her that night and he was waiting for her to bring his train all day.  He asked about it several times.  So as soon as he got it open, he had to put it together.

Grandma Vagedes came next, then Ashley,Jeremy and Caleb, followed by Aunt Annette, Uncle Ed and Jessica.  And last was Grandpa Vagedes.

He got a construction train from Annette and Ed.  He loved that thing and Caleb found it pretty interesting, too.

One of the things he got from Grandma and Grandpa Vagedes is a baseball helmet.  Might have to get a larger size for his big ol' head.
When it was time to sing, he didn't want to stay in the room, so he went into the toyroom to accompany our singing with his guitar.  After the singing was over, he was ok with coming in to blow out the candles.  After that he disappeared and didn't want cake or anything.

He loved his birthday so much!  I think it was the most excited I've seen him about his birthday yet.
