Maybe a solution?

Drew is always asking if he has to go to school today.  Or what about tomorrow?  He understands the concept of the calendar, so I made one for April, and marked whether he has school on a given day.  Then I tried to think of a way to point out the actual day without making it more visually confusing than it already is.  So I took a magnet and cut it out to frame whatever day it is.  Then we'll switch it every morning and look at whether he has school that day or not.  Not sure how well this will work, and it may need tweaking (possibly reducing the calendar to one week at a time?  Not sure.)   I'll let you know how it goes.
