Thursday Afternoon Randomness (list-style)

1.  Drew has become obsessed with Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.  He was into the show a couple years ago, and I think he forgot about it.  He recently re-discovered it and watches it on PBSKids.org all the time.  Something he's picked up from the show is every day when he gets home from school, he will go in his closet and hang up his shirt, like Mister Rogers does with his sweater.  I always have to sneak in there later to put his shirt in the laundry.  He also tries to get us to let him wear a zipper sweatshirt when he is going somewhere.  Pretty soon it'll cool off and we'll let him.  He's going to be so happy!

2.  Blake's special ed teacher wrote me a note that said Blake is able to participate with her normal (sp. ed.) classroom activites.  Last year he did it some, but spent some one on one time with his aide while the others had classwork.  This year he is able to do it!  Woohoo Blake.  Also, today after lunch, I saw his special ed teacher walking through the cafeteria making crazy left and right turns.  It only took me a few minutes to realize they were practicing left and right (I'm so smart!)  It was so cute, she was going and there were three or four little boys trailing her, like a mama duck with her ducklings.    They disappeared for awhile and came back with a new leader.  I thought it was a really fun way to work on left and right.  Blake was at the back of the line and he was visibly excited about it.

3.  I am so proud of Drew for the way he's handling his weaning from his prozac.  I know it's really hard for him, but overall he is managing.  He went with Eric last night for haircuts.  He talked himself through the process, using phrases Eric used in our video modeling, even though the modeling was for a visit to Grandma's house.  Afterward, Drew wanted to go to Wal-Mart.  Eric was surprised, and asked what he wanted at Wal-Mart.  Drew told him he wanted a notebook (one of his obsessions)  Eric asked if he'd rather go to "the red store", which is Staples.  Drew that that was a fantastic idea and off they went.  Eric said Drew walked up and down all the back-to school aisles and checked out every display.  Eric told him he could pick out a notebook, and Drew had a hard time deciding which he wanted.  He settled on a small black notebook.

4.  Blake has been watching Inspector Gadget on Netflix a lot.  I have to laugh, because I loved that show when I was a kid.  I still remember some of the episodes.  Blake is gettting so good at maneuvering the Wii Remote that he can change episodes and start one over if he likes.  I am so proud of him!

5.  Things are going well for us.  We got Boardmaker Studio a program to make picture schedules.  At least, that's what we thought we'd be doing with it.  And we can, but that's not all it can do.  It seems there are tons of different things we can do to support our boys' day and make some educational activities as well.  Pretty neat.  Eric only installed it yesterday, so I haven't played with it much, but I can't wait to get started with it.
